Now that VentureX has the Plaza Premium access also, and with the guest access policy in Feb, I’m likely to cancel next year - I usually am traveling with kids, who I can’t even add as AUs since they are both well <13, and I can continue with the VX and still have my lounge access with C1. I’ve been to a couple of lounges - SFO, DEN and SEA, all once - but honestly, I get value out of the credits/offers, and mostly, since this was the card that would still get me access to Plaza Premium lounges, since I fly out of YYZ/YVR often. While I always liked the concept of the Centurion lounges, by the time I actually determined the card was worth it for me - with the refresh - I always expected the Centurion lounge was going to be one of the least useful benefits - given the lines, with my home airport as SFO. I almost wish Amex would just give us a voucher for the regular airport vendors (like an airline does for a controllable delay). May still be better to just run to Klein’s or Napa Farms, which, yes, you need to pay for, but probably much better food (which is typically the case via-a-vis the SFO CL food anyway).

Water and bottled coffee.yikes - I told my industry friend that with the lounge closure, I’m just as likely to get in now as I do when I’ve been traveling in the past, since I try not to get to the airport insanely early, and there’s always a line.Īs for the grab and go….8am? Surely, this is of no help for my 7:15am flight next week. And while I’ve had some good experiences, I’m still not convinced of their value.Just saw this notice that the lounge is closing for maintenance starting on 9/6 on the SFO Centurion Lounge site. yes it sucks i also realize that its closed down so im planning on traveling from Oakland instead they have the Escape lounge which is also free for Plat holders. Since this visit, I’ve been able to visit two more Centurion Lounges on three separate occasions. I can see why some other bloggers argue that access to these lounges isn’t worth the Platinum Card’s annual fee. And, man, was it a disappointing experience. My visit to the Centurion Lounge San Francisco was my first Centurion Lounge visit, ever. The Centurion Lounge San Francisco, Final Thoughts At any rate, I remember not being particularly impressed by the offerings. It was far too crowded for me to stop to take photos. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get photos of the buffet lineup. Our visit was during breakfast hours, so the buffet include egg dishes, fruits, baked goods, and more. Eat + DrinkĪs is the case with all Amex Centurion Lounges, the San Francisco location has complimentary hot food and drinks too. That all made the Centurion Lounge San Francisco an unpleasant place to be. It was also very warm and noisy inside the lounge. The lounge was so crowded, in fact, that even walking around the lounge was difficult. It took us a long time to find somewhere to sit, and even when we did, it was two small stools on a table we shared with a few others. As many other bloggers have said, crowding is a major issue at this lounge. Once inside, this lounge is a pure circus. There, you’ll check-in with the front desk by swiping your Amex Platinum card. Once at the lounge, you’ll need to take the stairs or elevator up to the second level. Since we fly Alaska Airlines, that meant having to clear security into Terminal 3 to visit the lounge, and then exiting and reclearing security again into Terminal 2. Airside access, however, is only available from Terminals 3 and G (the international terminal). The Centurion Lounge San Francisco is in Terminal 3 (the United Airlines terminal) near gate 74. Thankfully, that didn’t take too long so we went to check out the Centurion Lounge San Francisco. At the end of our time in San Francisco, we headed to the airport early due to the Silvercar return process.
